UFC 2009 Undisputed?
Q&A
Question: What is an easy way to get submissions on
UFC 2009 Undisputed?
I bought UFC 2009 Undisputed the day it was put out, and
it's Amazing! But there's one thing that's really pissing me:
Submissions! I just can't seem to get a submission. Iv'e tested
many MMA UFC fighters, and multiple types of submissions, but i
just CAN'T seem to get them to tap. Any hints on an simple way
to get a submission?

It depends on your stats in relation to your
opposer. Don't anticipate to submit Nogueira with Brock Lesnar
(Not that it's hopeless,But it would be tough though). Higher
submission offense and high strength will help you out quite a
bit.
But the biggest factor is stamina (turn the stamina meter on
in the choices menu). Your stamina should be pretty high and
your opponent's should be low. I would recommend pounding your
opposer up until his stamina meter is under half (I usually
ground and pound from mount until the opponent's stamina is as
low as it can go), then try to drain the first meter (green, I
think) until the it's mostly yellow (gassed) while maintaining
enough stamina yourself. If you have done this, it should be
fairly easy to pull off the submission. And I learned somewhere
that it's significantly easier to submit somebody when they're
rocked (grey screen).

The easiest way to get submissions is to wear
your opponent out. Its a pretty evident tactic. If you
immediately go for the submission at the start of the fight
than 9 times out of 10 it wont work (unless they have no idea
what they are doing). You also want to REALLY associate
yourself with the controller and the control schemes. Brute
force (mashing the 4 main pad buttons) is much more promising
to get you out of a submission than a technical escape
(rotating the joystick), although a tech escape will put you in
a better ground position. Im not going to give away my trick to
the button mashing but there are strategies you can develop
that will make it more likely to beat your opponent in a button
mashing contest. It works for both submission offense and
defense. My advice to you is to figure out a strategy for the
mashing rather than just repeatedly tapping all four
buttons.
